Quiet Reverie: More Things I Like
The yellow blanket - even though it has accidental holes burned through it, making music with crystal glasses, things that are mint green and coral, not trading things, wearing my boyfriends shirts, busting out dance moves at the 7th street entry, collecting pennies, counting pennies, getting rid of pennies, being hired, never having been fired, empty beer bottles, full beer bottles, campfires by the lake, making s’mores for other people, dipping my toes in sandy water, letting my hair dry from the wind, wearing sweatpants (but only in private), buying new underwear, doors ajar, crackling paint, inspiring speeches, butt long hair, hearing about people’s fetishes, wondering about relish, not accepting mustard, pouring coffee, watching toast toast, pianos, sheer things, sweet things, sour things, honey (but not tasting it), when jack calls me “baby girl”, wiping the countertops, taking my shoes off, taking a bath, taking the dog I don’t own for a walk, humming and whistling, staring and the wall and blinking and thinking.
a moderately concise listing of things that i like
bookishness, happy feelings, cozy rooms, inspiration, conspiring, tea, cocktails, feather pillows, eight hour days, soft sheets, ukulele, humming, windchimes, not catching cold, hand written messages, telling, hearing, phone calls, superfluous, lipstick, artichokes, boiling water, summah breeze, small children with peanut butter hands, desperately seeking, being around people when they smoke, sweatpants, the process of packing and unpacking, footsteps, handwriting with serifs, downtown tags, wrinkled pillows, white linen, bouquets of flowers, to-go cups, spinning sick rhymes, man in high heels?, incense and peppermints, facebook likes, action figures, drawers, jean-michel basquiat, no-names, the books in my bag, picking locks, making plans, making escape plans, sleeping with no clothes on (!), seven deadly sins, sending scourges upon unsuspecting townsfolk, singing in public, tickets from 4am bus rides, paper cranes, book titles, playing board games, smoke swirls, sarcophagi, ancient things, illuminati and literati, contact, ferocity, velocity, monstrosity, up-top-ity, and balloons floating up and away.
